Statement of Intent

 In my music video the concept will be about the emotion of loving a person that does not have the same affection in return. The video will be about the main protagonist going through these emotions, this allows me to play with the varying emotions of the protagonist that will be played by me. The video will display the feelings of the character through a story of emotive concepts that intrigues the viewer through empathy allowing the audience to connect with the portrayed character through hardship. 

This concept should pair nicely with the vast love genre because it links people as a common emotion, but each and every person experiences love in their own way. This ties into the fact that love can also cause pain among some and there for what I am trying to portray in my video.

The audience of my video is hard to pinpoint but I feel my video will connect with teens and young adults transitioning into the strange and unfamiliar adult world. The video tries to connect to these people who are entering the new regime of life that can leave the target audience in a vulnerable state. 

The performers in my video will suit the genre because the character will be very ordinary just like the love typically is. This down to earth approach will allow the audience to establish a link with the main character in the video and feel as though they are being represented in the video.

The mise en scene of the video will represent loneliness by being set in a desolate area portraying both the mental and physical place of the character. The mise-en-scene will also be helped by a mixture of lighting and editing to project a dreich* image of the already isolated surrounding. Lastly the character will be dressed in fairly dark and dull clothes to really depict the characters situation. Whilst all this may seem a little sombre the fragile emotions of unrequited love and the vulnerable mental state both during and afterwards really connects with the target audience especially if the viewer is having or had the same experiences.

The editing in my music video will be smooth and flowing to represent the turning of pages to assist in making the audience feel like they are watching the chapters of the characters' experiences. The story concept of editing could be likened to romance novels or even movies tying this form of editing together with the love genre.

Other aspects that will be included in my video will include many various shots from close ups to high angle shots to help with the many layers and scenes of my music video.

The message of my music video will be slowly revealed throughout the video, partnered with enigma to leave a lot up for interpretation. But the overarching message of the video is to bring awareness to the people suffering from loneliness and how words can cut as deep as a blade.

For my website, I am going to include multiple pages and various links to social media accounts, the music video and the album of the artist. The homepage will be simply using black and white which is eye catching for the target audience. The social media account will include photos of the artist and various photos of the production behind the scenes. By putting the behind the scenes photos videos will mean the audience will have to read through the website to find the link.  The album of the artist will only include the one song that I have filmed and edited to encourage the promotion of the artist. My website will reflect Universal Music Group by presenting their logo, links to their website and contact information. All the interactivity with the website is overall intended to keep the viewer on the website for longer.
